A Bo(y) and His Dog: The Legend of Sydney Hoffmann

For Thomas Hoffmann no adage rings truer than the one about dog being Man's best friend. Ever since she was but an innocent pup, Sydney and Tom have had a connection stronger than welded steel; And then, tragedy struck: Legend has it that one sunny afternoon (Saint) James Unverferth tortured and ridiculed Sydney through one horrible game of "Keep Away". From that day on the dog was never the same...She growled, hissed, foamed at the teeth and, famously, nearly bit Mayor Bert Gates. Her demeanor was one of violence. Her soul was one of repression. She had become a mere shadow of her old-self. Her pain was so horrible that she practically shrunk into herself and drew away from all non-Hoffmanns. These pictures were taken on what is speculated to be one of Sydney's last remaining days. On this particular afternoon, she almost seemed to regain some of the spunk of yesteryear. If you look close enough, you just might be able to catch a glimpse of that young girl in her black eyes, peeking out to give one last bow; trying with all her might to summon the courage to confront her past...but you'll have to look awfully close.
